remembering the reposed

sunday was the day in which we prayed for the departed orthodox.  i had to think about this for a minute or five.  when filling out the commemoration sheets,  only those who have departed and are orthodox are prayed for.  now i am a first generation returnee for who knows how many generations.  so i figured i would get out my fingers and toes and do some counting.   since i can figure that i am from the united kingdom area,  orthodoxy was there at some point.  lets pick an easy date.  1054.  2008 minus 1054 equals 954.  954 years of approximate non orthodox christians in my lineage.  now lets say that families average about five generations per every 100 years.  47.7 generations of non orthodox christians in my lineage.  just a theory.  i know this is not scientific but that is sure something to think about.  i dont have a commemoration sheet.  i wonder if i can hitchhike my way home.  probably not.  the icon of the ladder of divine ascent sure says a lot.  lord have mercy.  hmmm,  angels have wings.  i wonder?  not worthy of that.

i hear you, we could think of only two people to list. the page seemed a bit empty. Lord-willing, our girls will not have this "problem".
